Itinerary
We pick you up fromy our hotel and leave Cusco by private car at around 6:20am in the morning. The Malaga pass is 4,200 metres high and we enjoy the beautifull view towards it. In about five hours we reach Chaullay at the mouth of the Vilcabamba River on the Urubamba, at 1,890 m. From here we take a truck to Huancacalle, which will take about three hours. We are now at about 3,000 m.
Today we see the ruins atop Rosas Pata, the most important of which is Vitcos, our guide will show us arund this site and explain more about its history. We return at night to our camp site.
Today we hike about 17 km, whith a steep climb over the pass called Qollpaqasa to reach our camp on the other side. We are now at about 3,700 m.
From today we will be descending along the Consevidayoc River and we hike 12 km. We pass Maukachaka and then Pampaconas. In Ututo good fishing awaits us.
After only an hour walking we will pass from the high Andean vegetation into a zone of high jungle. We can feel the warm air from the different climate now surrounding us. We hike about 15km today.
We hike 17 km today through changing landscapes. Enjoying the beauty of the surrounding nature. We enjoy lunch along the way before reaching our campsite where rest and spend the night.
We hike 8 km heading to the west until we reach Espiritu Pampa, a natural overlook situated in the triangle between the Pampaconas and Chomtabamba rivers and the base of a mountain. Here we find the Rumichaca, a lovely Inca bridge. After a guided tour, we camp in Chotabamba.
We hike the length of the steamy Espiritu Pampa valley, some 15 km, to the road below.
We take a bus for seven hours till we reach the town of Quillabamba. Where we overnight in a lodge.
We take the bus back to Cusco from Quillabamba.
