Itinerary
We pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Where we board the train to get to KM 104, the head of the trail. Here we start to walk for 3 hours approximately towards the well preserved remains of the ruins of Wiñay Wayna (2,900 m). On the way we can see beautiful waterfalls and walk through beautiful scenerie. After lunch, we have the rest of the day to explore the ruins with its houses, terraces, towers and local museum. We enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night in our camp.
After an early breakfast we start walking towards Inti Punku, the Inca “Gate of the Sun”, from which we will have our first impressive view of Machu Picchu. We cross a mountain ridge that leads to our destination, and one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of modern times is revealed. After a 2-hour guided tour of the sanctuary you will have enough time to explore the site on your own and if you like you can also climb Huayna Picchu (the mountain within the site of Machu Picchu, from where you have an amazing view over the site) please let us know at the time of your booking as we need to obtain a permit for you. The climb will take about 50 min one way.
The train, departing from Aguas Calientes station will take us back to Cusco. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. End of services.
