Huchuy Qosqo Trek 2 days / 1 nights

The Huchuy Qosqo (which means “Little Cusco” in Quechua) Trek is an alternative trekking route, in which captivating landscapes of valleys and mountains, creating the beautyful background.Our trek takes you towards the magnificent archeological site of Huchuy Qosqo.

The hike enables you to hike and carry out cultural tourism combined with adventure. The cicuit is full with natural attractiveness that gives to visitors a sensation of adventure. On the way we find several different valleys and we can observe the imposing geography of the Andes, with some snow covered mountain peaks, green valleys and sky blue lagoons. Even the hike starts near Cusco and you think it is a populated area, you soon discover the true wildness of the Andes.

Itinerary

In the morning around 06:00am we pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Tambomachay. This archeological site, just behind Sacsayhuaman is the start of the trail.
We ascend towards the summit of mountain of Tambomachay from where we can observe the valley of Cusco which we leave behind us. We continue walking through big grassy plateau before reaching the lagoons of Qoriqocha and Yanacocha. By one of these lagoons we will rest and having lunch whilst enjoying the beautiful area. After lunch we continue walking for about 30 minutes on a smooth trail at around 4,000m before descending towards the community of Pukamarca. It’s a little village consisting of small Andean houses with the typicall straw roofs. Our trek takes us upwards until León Punku, a spectacular little canyon from where we can enjoy the great view of the Sacred Valley. From here we continue walking on a flat path until the summit from here we are able to observe another part of the Sacred Valley.
After about 8 hours of walking, we finally reach Huchuy Qosqo where we set our camp and spend the night.

After a nutritious breakfast your guide will show you the archeological site of Huchuy Qosqo (3,600m), it is a gentle walk and you will have plenty of time to explore the whole dimension of this site. After visiting the site we start walking on a smooth, slow up-hill path for about 2.5 hours. We arrive to the high pass (4,300 m), after admiring the mountains surrounding us we descend for about 2 hours till we reach a nice spot where we have lunch and the trek ends.
After lunch our transport will bring us back to Cusco.
