Privacy Policy

We, Peru Nature Treks, are deeply committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal data collected from our Travelers. This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use, process, and protect the information provided during the booking process, ensuring complete transparency and compliance with the Peruvian Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 29733) and its implementing regulations. Our objective is to establish ourselves as a highly reliable and trustworthy agency (EEAT), demonstrating meticulous care in managing the sensitive data necessary for securing high-altitude trekking permits and operational logistics.

1. Collection and Type of Personal Data

We collect only the necessary data required to secure permits, ensure Traveler safety, and process payments. We obtain this information directly from the Traveler during the reservation process.

  • Mandatory Data for Bookings:
    • Personal Identification: Full legal name, date of birth, nationality, and current passport number. We need this specific information to purchase non-transferable government permits (e.g., Inca Trail, Machu Picchu) and train tickets, as mandated by the Ministry of Culture and Peruvian rail operators.
    • Contact Information: Email address, telephone number, and permanent residential address, which we use exclusively for communication regarding the reservation, itinerary changes, and mandatory safety updates.
    • Health and Safety Data: Details regarding dietary restrictions, known allergies, and relevant medical conditions (e.g., severe asthma, diabetes). We process this sensitive data solely for the purpose of ensuring Traveler safety during high-altitude treks and emergency preparedness.
  • Non-Personal and Technical Data:
    • We collect standard website interaction data, including IP address, browser type, and time zone settings, primarily through cookies. We use this information for website maintenance, security auditing, and improving user experience.

2. Use and Processing of Collected Data (Experience & Reliability)

The data we collect is used strictly for the fulfillment of the contracted tourism services and for necessary legal and regulatory compliance. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

  • Data Usage for Service Fulfillment:
    • We transmit passport and personal details to relevant Peruvian entities, including the Ministry of Culture (for entrance permits), SERNANP (for protected area access), Peruvian Rail Operators (e.g., PeruRail, Inca Rail), and pre-booked accommodation providers.
    • We use health information to brief our certified guides and cooks, enabling them to prepare appropriate meals and to be fully prepared for any emergency situation on remote high-altitude routes.
    • We process payment information using certified, secure, and PCI DSS compliant external payment gateways (e.g., Visa, MasterCard processors). We do not store full credit card details on our servers.
  • Marketing and Communication:
    • We may use the provided email address to send occasional newsletters or promotional materials only if the Traveler has provided explicit, opt-in consent. Travelers can easily unsubscribe at any time through a link provided in every marketing email.

3. Data Security and Traveler Rights (Authority & Trust)

We implement robust technical and organizational security measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, fully complying with Law No. 29733 requirements.

  • Security Protocols:
    • We ensure that our website and booking platforms utilize SSL/TLS encryption to secure all data transmission between the Traveler’s device and our servers.
    • Access to the Travelers’ personal data is strictly limited to authorized Peru Nature Treks personnel (e.g., reservation managers, certified guides) on a need-to-know basis, ensuring maximum internal accountability.
  • Traveler’s ARCO Rights:
    • Pursuant to Peruvian law, every Traveler possesses the rights of Access, Rectification, Cancellation (Deletion), and Opposition (ARCO rights) concerning their personal data.
    • Travelers can exercise their ARCO rights by sending a formal, written request to our designated Data Protection Officer at the official contact address listed on our website. We commit to responding to all ARCO requests within the timeframe mandated by Peruvian regulations.
